Toivo Molin belongs to the new generation of Finnish artists and makers. With a background in furniture design and interior architecture, Molin combines his vision of shapes and spaces with an understanding of materials, ultimately resulting with works that feel familiar yet almost alien at the same time. Aesthetically his work aims to juxtapose elegance with the raw characteristics of materials.
At the moment Molin is concentrated on working with glass, utilising experience gained by working as a glassblower at the Iittala glass factory and also at Murano, an island famous for its long history and expertise with glass.
